What is this for?
The test is used specifically to assist with the selection of students into undergraduate level courses in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Optometry or Physiotherapy at the universities listed on the UMAT website
What is involved in the test?
The UMAT is a 2.5 hour test taken during your final year of school (or the year after, depending on when you will be applying for your chosen program). “It is designed to assess general attributes and abilities gained through prior experience and learning; specifically, the acquisition of skills in critical thinking and problem solving, understanding people and abstract non-verbal reasoning. These abilities are considered important to the study and later practice of professions in the health sciences”
Does my ENTER score still count?
Yes – depending on the selection process for each course, your ENTER score, UMAT score and usually an interview will all be taken into consideration when selecting applicants for the course.
Can I prepare for the test?
You can purchase practise questions and exams from umat when you register for the test.
